Linda Kathryn Shields, 73, of Fort Myers, Florida departed this life on Monday, March 21, 2022. She was born November 22, 1948 in Queens, New York, the daughter of Arthur James and Elizabeth (Hinz) Shields.
Linda is survived by her brother, James Shields and sister-in-law, Evelyn Shields, as well as Linda's beloved triplets, a nephew, Brian Shields and nieces, Jaclyn Stoeber and Jessica Mulholland. Linda is also survived by her faithful canine companion, Seamus Shields.
Linda had a love for her family that she expressed with many words to all who knew her. Not a day went by that she didn't speak of her parents, extended family, and memories formed while growing up with them in New York. Although Linda spent her last days in Florida, she was a New Yorker through and through. She loved New York City, especially when the city came to life at Christmas time.
Linda had a successful career at Avon, where she encountered friendships and memories that shaped her into the woman we all knew. Assertive, a good listener, passionate and kind. Linda's kindness was most seen in her retirement years, as she volunteered her time to write for the Sunshine Airedale Rescue Newsletter. Linda was loved and adored by those who shared in her passion; she was a fierce advocate of the Airedale breed and opened her own heart and home to her beloved fur babies: Scarlett, Nikki, and Seamus.
Rest in peace beloved sister and friend.
“To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.” — Clara Ortega
