Mamie L. Thompson, 94, of Fort Myers, FL passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Evergreen, Alabama on March 1, 1929 to William T. and Gladys (Calvert) Zellers. In 1951 she married James H. Thompson. She resided in Mobile, AL, New Orleans, LA, Alexandria, VA and ultimately moved to Fort Myers in 1977. Mamie was a member of Safe Harbor Reformed Church in Fort Myers.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Steve) Pecaut; sister, Hazel Z. Bass; grandchildren, Linsey Kelsey, James R. Thompson and Katherine Pecaut; great grandchildren, David DePotty and Canon Kelsey; brother in law and sister in law, Tracy and Jan Thompson and sister in law, Mary Thompson.
Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Thompson Sr, son, James H. Thompson Jr and sister, Mildred P. Crenshaw.
Mamie loved traveling, jazz cruises and festivals, the Broadway Palms Theater and cooking.
There will be a time to visit with family and friends on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 1 – 2 PM at Hodges-Kiser Funeral Home, 9231 Cypress Lake Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33919. Funeral service to follow beginning at 2 PM.
