Mary Ann Olson

She will be missed beyond words, but we find comfort knowing she is with the Lord and re-united with the love of her life, Don.

Mary Ann was born 12-13-30 in Aurora, NE to Vern & Ethel Potter. They moved to Illinois for farming when she was young.

She married Don Olson (Ole) on 6-27-48. She dedicated her life to her family, raising 6 children. She was very involved in the church no matter where she was living. Enjoyed many hours helping with pies at the sandwich fair for our church stand.

Mom moved to Florida with her precious Toby in 2017, after many cold winters in the Midwest.

We found this quote in one of her many albums……

“I would have to be really blind not to see how much God has done for me. my marriage and understanding husband, you have to look to God and give thanks when you are able to have 6 children, all healthy and so loving as we feel ours are. My prayer is for my children to have inspirations as I’ve had to guide them in their lives as I feel He lead me. I believe the reunion in heaven to be with those we love is well worth doing good on this earth for, and pray God shows us all the way.”

We all got our travel bug from mom. She and dad to Hawaii on 50th Anniversary. She also traveled to Costa Rica, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Panama Canal, England, France, Mexico, Alaska. Too many miles to count in their beloved campers & 5th wheel, covering most of the country, sightseeing and visiting many friends along the way.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Jerry (Terri) Olson, Peggy (Rich) Betcher, Deb (Paul) Bussey, Ron (Joanne) Olson, Pam Anderson, Tim (Martha) Olson. 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don. Brother Boyd Potter, grandson, Brant Betcher, and her parents Vern & Ethel Potter.

Visitation will be held on April 19th at 10am. Memorial service will follow at 11 am at the United Church of Sandwich, 512 Lions Rd, Sandwich, IL 60548. A luncheon will be served following service.
