I met Matt on back fields of Jet Blue in 2015. I was there every day and had many conversations with Matt and Steve Blessing. So many conversations that we finally talked baseball and would I like to work for him and Steve. We discovered that I was playing baseball in Key West and Matt was in the Marines at the same time in 1974. He said that He and many of his friends attended my games because they loved baseball and and nothing to do. We really became close after that and had many conversations at Jet Blue during games through out the years. I was shocked and saddened to hear he passed during the off season. He was a beautiful man who treated everyone with respect. I will miss our conversations and a void has come over Jet Blue with his passing. Mark Stanko


It will be a long time before the "pool people" at Bell Tower open the gate to the pool without looking for a smile and a friendly greeting from Matt.  It was our pleasure having him in our lives and we will all miss his presence.  May he rest in  peace.  Jim & Betsy Stewart

Matt will always be remembered for being a great person ,friend and leader. He was indeed a pleasure to work with at the Boston Red Sox spring training in Fort Myers. He was also known for  demonstrating a sense of compassion , sensitivity and humanity . When Steve Blessing hired Matt, we got the best.  

I will remember Matt for his beautiful smile, great laugh and  an amazing grandfather to our shared grandchildren.  Heaven has another angel to watch over us.  Rest In Peace, Matt.

I will always remember all the Mets games I went to with Matty we were big Mets fans and Tom Seaver was our favorite player which makes sense that the last game we went together was Tom Seaver Day which I can remember like it was yesterday. Rest In Peace Matty

Matt was such a great man always had a smile on his face and was a great friend. Always enjoy our times at the pool and talking when walked Casey abs I was walking. He will be missed.

Matt was a friend and colleague with whom I was fortunate to know while working at spring training. While making his “game day rounds”  I would always say to him, “If I need you, I will call you.” It became our game day ritual.  Rest In Peace! 


Matt your thoughtfulness and friendship will sorely be missed by the Clapp Family. Though we only knew each other for a short 9 years  your help, leadership, understanding and ability to control situations helped us all to get the job done. I will miss you immensely may your wings gently guide to the throne and you sit ever lasting   at peace.

My condolences to Pat and Family. Matt was a wonderful man and friend who was always there to help us at Jet Blue Park. I think he must have worn out two pairs of sneakers each Spring Training with all the running around he did but he did find time for his Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich. We will miss Matt he touched so many of our lives with his friendship. God Bless Matt and his Family.

miss my "Willie Mays"...working with Matt at JetBlue Park, I could never remember which number was who on the radio, and when I asked Matt what his number was, he said 24.  I said "oh Willie Mays" and he went on to tell me how his boyhood hero was Willie Mays - from then on it was "Sue to Willie Mays" when I called him for something during a game.   
Matt, you are the best and I, along with many others, will greatly miss you at the ballpark...rest in peace, love you, my friend!

I worked with Matt at JetBlue park during spring training. Always a gentleman, great attitude and pleasant to be around. His distinctive voice would let you know Matt was in the house. I will miss him . RIP Matt.
