Maureen Fitzgerald Ryan

Born on July 7, 1943 in Easton, Maryland, Maureen was the beloved daughter of Patrick and K. Louise Fitzgerald. She attended Talbot County Public Schools and graduated from Easton High School in 1961. She then went on to attend Goldey Beacom Business School. After receiving her Associates Degree, she began a long and distinguished career with USF&G Insurance Company in Baltimore, Maryland where she served in the Information Services department from 1963 to 1996, when she retired as a director.

She married Harry F. Ryan in Ellicott City, Maryland on April 21, 1979, and they enjoyed 31 years of marriage. Harry and Maureen lived in Baltimore, Maryland on Federal Hill and the Inner Harbor during their careers with USF&G and enjoyed boating on their Viking Yacht on the Chesapeake Bay for many, many years. In 1996, they moved to Florida to live out their years in shorts and bathing suits, soaking up as much warm sunshine as possible. Harry passed away in January 2011. Maureen provided constant loving care and support during his final years.

During her 20 years in Florida, Maureen enjoyed being a vital part of her community at the Villages at County Creek and fostering many, many close friendships, which still endure today.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband, Harry, and her parents, Pat and Louise Fitzgerald. She is survived by her brother, Charles Fitzgerald and her close friend and sister-in-law, Nancy. She is also survived by her nephew, Pat Fitzgerald, his wife Lexa, and their daughter, Kathryn, Maureen’s special grand-niece.

Future memorial services will be held in Estero, Florida and Easton, Maryland.
