

Daughter of Mazie Strahan, née Fischer, and Clifton Strahan, passed away on May 11, 2026. She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on March 28, 1942. Melanie graduated from University of Illinois Chicago. She met her Husband, Andrew Hill, in 1988 and they married in 1994.
Melanie worked as a flight attendant at United Airlines for 41 years, traveling domestically, and internationally to China, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, and other countries. She flew US troops in both the Vietnam and Gulf Wars.
She had a passion for dancing, especially ballet, sewing, gardening, and international travel to destinations including Italy, France (loved Paris), Greece, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Nepal, among others.
She loved her family and friends, hosted many holiday dinners, wrapped the most beautiful Christmas presents, and sewed home decor, doll clothes for her grandkids, and other fun gifts. She lived in some of the most vibrant cities in the United States, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Newport, Rhode Island, before retiring in Fort Myers, Florida.
She is survived by her Husband, Andrew Hill, stepdaughters, Jennifer (Dustin) Sandoval and Melissa (Jon) Morgan, grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley, and Andrew Sandoval, Krista and Kayla Morgan.
Sister: Nedra (Victor) Calvaruso, niece, Leah (Chase) Crawford, great-nephews, Christian and Collins Crawford.
In-laws: Melanie (late Jerry) Whitley, Mike (Bonnie) Hill, Kevin (late Karen) Hill, Kathy (Scott) Tompkins, and many nieces and nephews.
Special friends: Judy (late Paul), Suzan, and Amy Gignesi, Marcia (Luis) Cegavske, Laurie and Sam Fayhee, and Ron (late Colleen) Principato.
Memorial services will be held in Chicago and Fort Myers. More information will follow.
