Obituary of Rosica B Legrand
Rosica B. Legrand Beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, friend and Community Godmother. 11/17/1947 - 11/03/2020 Rosica passed away in Naples, Florida on November 03, 2020 at age 72. She was born in Dame Marie, Haiti on November 17, 1947 the eldest daughter of Andre and Lusica Borno. Early in life Rosica was a school teacher at a Catholic School in her hometown for ten years. Rosica was also a great seamstress and used this talent to make school uniforms; for extra money to support her mother and siblings after her dad passed away. Rosica came to the U.S. in 1980 to join her husband in Florida. They moved from Miami to Tampa and later settled in the small town of Immokalee, FL. Rosica and her husband were passionate about helping other immigrants make the transition into America; so Immokalee was a perfect fit. Rosica was very strong in her Christian Faith and was a caring soul and often prioritizing others over herself. She and her late husband raised four children of her own and she cared for thousands of other children throughout the years in daycares and 16 years as a pediatric nurse. She loved children and had a gift for soothing and understandingthem. Most of all she was an amazing grandmother. Rosica was a bible study queen, collector of hats, a seamstress, lover of crossword puzzles and enjoyed retail therapy. Rosica and her husband opened Legrand's Caribbean Market a local grocery store 23 years ago in Immokalee, Florida. Rosica known as "Fify" to close friends and family opened Fify's Caribbean Cuisine, a small restaurant also located in Immokalee that showcased her recipes. Rosica was always positive, patient, prayerful and passionate about Christ Jesus! Rosica was well known for her love, compassion, kindness and generosity within her family and community. Rosica was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Franck Legrand Sr. (99). She will be dearly missed by all that survive, especially her children; Franck Legrand Jr., Rosie Legrand, Beau Legrand and Francesca Sainvilus; her beloved grandchildren, Nikkora and Frankie Legrand; Jadore and Jamie Sainvilus; Beau Jr. and Roney Legrand; as well as her siblings, Paul, Peter and AnneRose Borno, Claudette Legrand, many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended family. In accordance with her wishes, a private memorial service will be held in her honor. Those attending are asked to wear a face covering and socially distance. In honor of her love of helping others and in lieu of flowers, the family has asked the Memorial Contributions be made to Boys and Girls Club Immokalee.
