Gene Chan reunited with the love of his life on April 21, 2023. His beloved wife of 39 years, Marie Elizabeth (Lueg) Chan, died in July 2007, and Gene spent the last 16 years talking about how much he was looking forward to seeing her in heaven.
Gene lived a fulfilled life and died peacefully in his sleep at his eldest daughter's home.
He is survived by three children, Lida Marie Rubio, Eugene Michael Chan, and Marie Christina Cooper.
He was a beloved grandfather of 11 grandchildren and a great-grandfather of 4.
Gene worked hard all his life as a Executive Chef and Head Chef at many restaurants. He also had ownership of The Rose Garden, Chinese Kitchen, and Mai Tai. Due to his passion for cooking, he continued to give his service to many after his retirement. His favorite pastimes were golfing, watching soccer, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
