

He was a lifelong resident of Fort Pierce, moving here after serving in the United States Army. He worked with his father, George H. Close Sr. in the citrus business, then with Treesweet as their fruit buyer, then with Oakley Transport Inc. till his retirement at age 83.
He loved spending time with his family and loved the many dogs he had throughout his life. He enjoyed boating and fishing, taking many trips to the Bahamas. Spending time at his property in Colorado and building model train landscapes. In his later years the old Western TV programs were his favorite pastime.
He leaves his beloved wife Nancy, daughters Susan Fangman, Karyn Patton. Grandchildren Stephanie Detchessahar, Jeffrey Fangman, Cole Patton and seven great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his sons Steven Close and Kenneth Paul.
A visitation will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, located at 6026 N US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL, 34946, on March 1, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
A graveside service will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 North Us Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL, 34946, on March 2, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
Following the graveside service, a reception will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, 6026 N US Highway 1, Fort Pierce, FL, 34946, on March 2, 2026, from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm.
