ROBERT J. HORAK

JANUARY 4, 1929, to JUNE 12, 2025

Robert John Horak left this world peacefully on June 12, 2025. He had a wonderful long life despite a challenging beginning. Bob lost both of his parents at an early age. He and his brother Dick, went to live with his Grandma Bertha Marlow, who had a boarding house in Jersey City.

It was a difficult transition for them. They learned early on that they had to rely on themselves. Through his determination to succeed in life, Bob turned down a basketball scholarship so that he could work full time while attending college at Newark College of Engineering in Newark, NJ. He became an electrical engineer and worked for many years at Singer-Kearfott.

Bob and his wife Kathleen nee Egan were high school sweethearts and were married for over 70 years. They shared an incredible love for one another. They passed on that love to their children by creating a beautiful supportive home life. Every one of their children was valued individually.

Bob is survived by his children, Linda (Charles Scarpa), Donna (Michael Barreca) and Robert Jr. and an irreplaceable sister-in-law MaryAnne Egan.

Two grandchildren Ryan Charles Scarpa (Gracee Hendrix), Dustin David Scarpa (Erica Brunken) and great grandchild Andrea Lio Scarpa along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Losing Bob will put a hole in many lives. He is reunited with his great love Kay who has been waiting for him. He was a generous person and had empathy for all. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many families and friends.

A funeral mass for Robert will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 500 Iris Ln, Vero Beach, FL 32963. Following the funeral mass will be a committal service from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 6026 US-1, Fort Pierce, FL 34946.
