

Donald was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Una Kolenich.
He is lovingly remembered by his four children: Kim (Diana), grandchildren: Janine (Codi) Vindevogel, Courtney (Colton) Lee, Kyle (Katie) and Jaimie; Brent (Janelle), grandchildren: Dana (Alexandre) Salat, Ashley (Colton) Gartner, Taylor (Jamie) MacClure and Alyssa Turcotte; Rhonda (Darren) Schill, grandchildren: Katie (Jesse) Schellenberg, Amanda Schill and Brooke (Mike) Kuhling; Krystal (Shawn) Wall, grandchild Presley; great-grandchildren: Jordyn and Maddie Vindevogel, Hudson, Hannah, Holden Lee, Olivier Salat, Zoe and Myla Hartman and Theo Schill.
Donald was born and raised in the community of Dysart, where he spent most of his life farming until he retired at age 59. In retirement, he and Patti spent winters in United States and summers fishing in northern Saskatchewan. He was a proud and active member of the Dysart community. In his younger years he volunteered countless hours coaching hockey, maintaining the rink and supporting local events. He was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and the Parish Council.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre staff for their compassionate care and to the EMS team who transported Donald to Regina. Sincere thanks as well to the Regina General Hospital Emergency Department staff, your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
Donald will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lebret, SK on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., by Rev. Francis Hengen. The pallbearers will be Dennis Bellefleur, Bob Huber, Walter Nakonechny, Marvin Huber, Bill McLeod and Kevin Lander. Interment will take place in St. John The Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Dysart District, SK.
