1939-2014
It is with great sadness that the family of Gerry would like to announce his passing on April 10 after a brief battle with cancer. Gerry was born August 7, 1939 in Katepwa, Sask. Gerry was pre-deceased by his mother, Josephine Racette and recently by his best friend and partner, Shirlene Mock. Sadly, he will be missed by brothers Leonard and Calvin, sisters Melona (Cliff) and Rena (Mick). Children, Stacey (Scott), Shannon (Steve), Jason, Vincent (Amy), stepson Greg (Jean), 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gerry had a love for the valley and was an avid environmentalist. As a young man, he was a noted hunter and trapper. He carried a passion for fishing his entire life and is well recognized for his feats at fishing derbys. He was a skilled carpenter and worked for many years in the construction industry. He also spent the winters in his younger years as a commericial fisherman, and for the past few years, you could always find him at the Katepwa landfill. He was a kind and caring man and was loved by everyone in the valley. A special thank you to all his friends who visited him while in hospital and a huge big thank to the staff of both the RGH and Pasqua 3B for the excellent care he received. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to support the Humane Society to recognize the love that Gerry had for animals. At Gerry’s request, he will be cremated and no funeral service will be held. A celebration of his life will take place in the valley at a later date and the community will be invited to participate.
