James Brian Dooley passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, in Regina, Saskatchewan, at the home he shared with his beloved wife, Betty. Born on August 19, 1948, to his parents James and Agnes, in the small town of Blind River, Ontario, Brian lived a remarkable life filled with adventure, dedication and service to his country. He was 76 years old.
Brian served honorably in the Royal Canadian Air Force for twenty years, where he was known for his professionalism, ambition and integrity. In a rare and impressive achievement, he was commissioned from the ranks and retired at the rank of Lieutenant in under two decades of service - a milestone few ever reach in such a short time. He received numerous awards and service decorations in recognition of his exemplary conduct and outstanding contributions to Canada’s defence.
His military career took him across the country and around the world. Brian lived in the breathtaking vastness of the Arctic, explored nearly every corner (and castle!) of Europe and travelled extensively throughout Canada. Not bad for a little boy born in Blind River.
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Betty; his children: Hugh (Rebecca), Chantelle (Eric), Shawn and Kirk (Allison); his brothers Merrill (Mary) and Dan; his grandchildren: Wren, Hunter, Zoe, Peyton, Milo and Ronan; his nephews Collin and Bret and all of whom will carry his memory with love and pride.
A funeral mass was celebrated in Our Lady of Sorrows RC Church, Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., by Rev. Augustine Ebido OP. The interment took place in the Lipton Memorial Gardens, Lipton, Saskatchewan. A light lunch and gathering will follow in the Lipton Community Hall, Lipton, Saskatchewan.
