On Friday, January 20, 2012, Jessie Blondeau, beloved wife of Guy Blondeau, Lebret, SK., died at the age of 75 years. The funeral mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lebret, SK., on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. Ronald Andree. Interment of cremated remains in the parish cemetery at a later date. Prayers in the church on Monday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Mary Bodnar; an infant son Joseph Guy Blondeau in Nov. 1966; and son-in-law Rod Grabarczyk in 2011. Besides her husband, Jessie is survived by two children: Brian Blondeau and Maureen Grabarczyk, both of Regina, SK.; four grandchildren: Gavin Blondeau, Ryan, Rachell and Mya Grabarczyk; sister Wilma (Gina) Sebastian, Regina, SK.; and brother Larry (Dora) Bodner, Southey, SK. Jessie is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. After attending high school in Lestock, SK., Jessie earned her commercial certificate at the Sacred Heart Academy, then worked for a year at Canada Permanent Trust in Regina. She married Guy in 1959, and came to join him in Lebret. Jessie was a great asset to her community and parish. While she tried to avoid the limelight, she was very helpful behind the scenes. She worked for several years as postmaster’s assistant and as village secretary-treasurer. Jessie was a great people-person all her life. She enjoyed the company of people, and tirelessly looked out for other’s welfare. She truly exemplified the Hungarian spirit of hospitality in which she was raised. She maintained a “magic fridge” until her health declined in recent years. For a few years she and Guy joined the Worldwide Marriage Encounter movement as a team couple and both found this extremely rewarding. But the major highlight of Jessie’s life was her grandchildren. She could not do enough for them, and would have liked to see them graduate from high school and become adults. Jessie touched many lives, and her spirit will live on in the caring way of life that she instilled in her family and that rubbed off on her many friends. If friends so desire contributions to the Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, Box 100, Lebret, SK., S0G 2Y0 may be tokens of remembrance.
