Lun Fong (Linda) Yee

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lun Fong (Linda) Yee of Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan at the age of 92 years. Linda passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Linda was predeceased by Ben, her loving husband of 74 years.

She is survived by her children: Judy (Jeff), Jim, Grace (Clifford) and Patrick (Darla); her grandchildren: Nelson, Gina (Lane), Victoria (Carter), Mellisa (Scott), Randi (Layne) and Adam; her great-grandson Sterling; her siblings Tang Su San and Lien (Mei) and a number of nieces and nephews.

Linda was born on September 19, 1932 in Dung Tow, a small village in China. Following Ben, she immigrated to Canada in July 1955 where they worked and started their family in Regina. In 1961 the family moved to Fort Qu’Appelle where they owned and operated the Liberty Restaurant. In 1972 they purchased the Valley Cafe which they operated until their retirement in 1994.

Linda was a conscientious, hard worker. Alongside her husband, they worked long hours to develop their business and raise their young family. Above all, family was the most important thing to Linda. Her priority was to ensure that her children were healthy, happy and knew they were loved. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. As the children grew older and the family expanded with grandchildren and a great-grandchild, her love grew with it. At family gatherings, Linda enjoyed the sound of conversation and laughter around the table. It brought a smile to her and filled her heart with joy.

Linda loved to cook for her family and friends. She prepared the most delicious Chinese food. At family gatherings she ensured there was always a favourite Chinese dish for every member of the family. She never wanted anyone to leave the table hungry.

Linda’s presence and her love will be truly missed. She is once again at Ben’s side, walking hand in hand and that brings us great comfort and peace.

Our family offers heartfelt thanks to the staff who provided such great and compassionate care during Linda’s time at Echo Lodge, Fort Qu’Appelle.

As requested by Linda, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
