A public graveside service will be held in Balcarres Cemetery on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
After school Ron stayed home to help on the family farm. In 1961 Ron worked at Diefenbaker Lake and in 1962 became parts man at Green Field Motors, then Fred Wilda’s Esso Service Station in Balcarres. In 1965 he drove truck for Gartners Bakery. Later worked at Chatterson’s Lumber helping build the Centennial Arena in 1967. In 1968 he built ‘Ron’s Big K Car Wash” in Balcarres before moving to and taking over family farm in 1970 also driving school bus. The first few years the family raised and showed purebred sheep. In 1984 Ron added ‘Ron’s Bearing Shop’ (auto, agro supply shop) in one bay of the car wash working with his wife and son until 2012.
Ron will sadly missed by his loving wife, Audrey of 54 years; one son Darren (Crystal) Large and their family Levi and Spencer; two sisters, Lorraine (Bud) Peck, Osoyoos, B.C. and Barbara Carriere (Murray Klein), Regina,SK, sister-in-law Jacqueline Aldous and his special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dick and Pearl Large, brother, Bruce Large, two brothers in law, Doug Carriere and Stan Aldous.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire contributions may be made to the Recreation Dept. of the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre, Box 340, Balcarres, SK S0G 0C0 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec. Ave., Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9 as tokens of remembrance.
