With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sheila Anne Huber (nee Onrait) on February 16, 2025 at the age of 74. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and devotion to her family and community.
Sheila was born on January 14, 1951 in Balcarres, Saskatchewan to Anne and Ralph Onrait. As the eldest of four siblings, she embraced her role with care and strength, growing up alongside Patrick, Bonnie and Colleen on the family farm. She attended Mount Victory School through Grade 8 before continuing her education at Balcarres School, where she completed Grade 12.
On February 15, 1969 Sheila married the love of her life, Robert Huber of Lipton. Together they built a beautiful life, beginning their journey in Windthorst, where they welcomed their first daughter Shannon. They later moved to Balcarres before settling in Lipton, where they embarked on a farming adventure and expanded their family with the arrival of their son Craig and daughter Carla.
A dedicated and hardworking woman, Sheila found joy in the simple pleasures of farm life. She had a deep passion for gardening, took immense pride in the family business she built alongside Robert and Craig and was known for her exceptional cooking. However, her greatest happiness came from her family. Sheila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always putting the needs of others before her own.
She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert; her children: Shannon (Ron) Tomolak, with grandchildren Brett and Chad (Ashley) and great-grandchildren Nova and Brinley; Craig (Tina), with grandchildren Haylie (Andres), Clark and Madison and Carla (Brian) Hildebrandt, with grandchildren Brady and Keelie. Sheila is also survived by her sisters Bonnie (Wade) Dubiel and Colleen Anderson (Mitch Bruneau); brother-in-law William (Jan) Huber; sister-in-law Jeannie (Bob) Gibbons; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Sheila was predeceased by her parents Anne and Ralph Onrait and her brother Patrick.
Sheila’s warmth, generosity and unwavering love for her family will forever be cherished. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. MacDonald and the nursing staff of 4A as well as the compassionate care from the staff in the Palliative Care unit of the Pasqua Hospital.
