Annelise was born in Holland and trained as a nurse. She moved to Canada in 1961, settling first in Elk Point, Alberta and shortly moved to Edmonton, Alberta. It was there that she met Bill McNabb, and together they had three children. Bill passed away in 2001. During her years in Canada, Anne lived in Wetaskiwin, Fort St. John, Nanaimo, and finally Edmonton, building a rich life and lasting connections in her communities.
One of the defining themes of Anne's life was her dedication to helping others. She built a career as a hard-working nurse, caring for patients throughout her working life. Her generosity extended well beyond her career: she volunteered with her church, gave her time to Victim Services, and regularly supported local food banks and community initiatives. Anne was strongly guided by her faith, and she gave freely of both her time and her finances wherever she saw a need. Above all, Anne cherished her family, maintaining close, loving relationships with her siblings, nieces, and nephews. She loved Canada but always held a special place in her heart for her homeland of Holland.
Anne will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Chrystal (Jan) Palaty, Mannix (Jackie), and Nigel (Ivana). She is also survived by her brother Wessel, the youngest of her nine siblings. She will be deeply missed by her 12 grandchildren and soon to be 9 great-grandchildren, as well as her nieces and nephews and their respective families, located around the world.
A celebration of Anne's life will be held on October 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Community Church [6505 - 140 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T5A 1H1] or can be streamed at https://youtube.com/live/vzHTBjpTs-g?feature=share.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Emmanuel Community Church or another organization that may be in need, in Anne's memory.
