Brian Arthur Prochnau

Brian’s life was marked by steady devotion, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the people and places he loved. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta and went on to spend 30 years with Labatt Brewery, where he served in multiple roles over the course of his long career. His work reflected the same dependable spirit that guided so much of his life.

Those who knew Brian will remember him as a kind and gentle soul with a true love for his family. He was deeply devoted to his wife of 47 years Joan, and he took great joy in his children, Andrew and Todd, and Todd’s wife, Tamsen. He was also a proud grandfather to Juliet and Henry, and his family meant everything to him.

He leaves behind his sister Shirley (Doug) Chandler, nephews Matthew, Nathan and Jacob (Natasha) Chandler and a very special Aunt Hertha Schwanke. He also leaves behind his mother and father-in-law Kathleen and Ken Pollard and brother-in-law Randy (Natalie) Pollard and special nieces Breanne, Ella and Gracie Nakonechny and numerous family members and devoted friends. Brian was predeceased by his father Arthur and his mother Martha.

Brian especially loved the outdoors and had a true passion for backpacking in the mountains with his backpacking buddy Kevin Todd. That love of nature was one of the many things that made him who he was, and it brought him peace and joy throughout his life.

He will be remembered with affection and gratitude by all who knew him. Brian leaves behind a legacy of kindness, family devotion, and a life lived with quiet purpose.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 1:00 pm First United Church, 10409 100 Avenue in Fort Saskatchewan with the Reverend David Pollard officiating.
