Derek would like to let you know that effective August 1st his work here is done. He received a call with an offer he couldn’t refuse, it’s for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Love and laughter are guaranteed. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, gardening and feeding the birds to his heart’s content.

We want to let him know that he did a great job here and wish him a safe journey. We insist that he take on his new assignment with no need to worry for those he leaves behind. We will remember his never ending love for family, his enormous pride for his kids and grandkids, his talent for carpentry, his enjoyment for teasing, puzzles and Clive Cussler, his sentimental heart, his warmth and charm and last but not least his ability to make people feel special. Up until the very end he worked hard and we thank him for making the world a better place.

Derek was born on August 19, 1962 to Wendell and Kathy Frank in Comox, BC, they soon moved to Nictaux, NS where he spent all of his growing years.

I have so many great memories of Derek that I cannot choose just one . What I do know is that Derek was as genuine , kind and hardworking as they come . He was a true Nova Scotia boy at heart ❤️ He loved his family and showed his love each and every day . Derek and Jo raised three amazing, genuine , hardworking and kind people . I know that Derek would have wanted many more years of family activities with his children and grandchildren, but I also know that wherever he is now , he can rest easy knowing that he has provided them with a strong foundation that they can carry forward 💕 I am
honoured to have had Derek in my life and privileged to call Jo , Shea , Kellyn, Ethan , Willow , and Hazel my family .
You are in our thoughts 💕💕Auntie Kelly , Uncle Mike , Sam and Maddy . There are truly not enough words to express my sorrow for you all😞

My condolences to all of Derek's loved ones.

Derek played a huge role in my apprenticeship and taught me a ton. He was always patient with me and stuck by me even though I thought I always knew more than he did (like most apprentices compared to their Journeyman) . I have only good memories of running around Redwater with him supporting ARC.

Deric, as I was growing up introduced me to many first. We spent many hours on the road delivering fish, maybe to some not the most exciting thing to skip school on a Friday afternoon, but for Chris, Steven and myself, probably one of the things we looked forward to each week.

He was a good friend, a caring person. I am sorry we lost touch over the years.

May He Rest In Peace . Our heart felt condolences to his family.

Our world just got smaller with the news of Derek's passing. We met at MRHS as class mates but our real friendship came about when we reconnected in Alberta, Derek became great friend and helped me though a rough stretch in my life as he did with few others friends.
I feel extremely fortunate to have had him in my life and will sure miss our monthly chats, checking in on each other's lives,
My Condolences to Shea, Kelly and Ethan , grandchildren , sisters ,and extended families
We lost a good one
Miss you buddy
