George Cholin

24 February, 196015 October, 2020

It is with great sadness and immense love that the family of George Andrew Cholin (February 24, 1960 - October 15, 2020) announce his passing after a difficult battle with cancer. George peacefully passed surrounded by the love of his wife of 27 years, Della Cholin, son Brett Cholin, and daughter Jessica Cholin, at the young age of 60.

George will forever be missed and remembered by his immediate family, Della (wife), Brett (son), and Jessica (daughter), his surviving father Bill Cholin, father in-law Ed Max, mother in-law Judy Max, five siblings, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.

In death, George is reunited with his late mother, Rita Cholin, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and his loving dog, Belle.

George can be described as nothing less than amazing, and anyone who knew him is better off because of it. The private man that George was, he always put family first. However, he will be deeply missed by friends, colleagues, and neighbours alike.

After a nearly 40-year career at MEGlobal (DOW Chemical) in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, George looked forward to retirement with his wife, Della. George had many plans including spending time at his cabin that he built at Turtle Lake, Saskatchewan, travelling to Mexico, working around the acreage at his family home, snowmobiling, driving his 1973 Javelin, watching his children start their own families, and growing old with his wife.

His memory will live on. He will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan on October 2, 2021 at the Prairieland Community Centre at 2:30pm. Luncheon and refreshments to follow. Invitation is open to all pending no further restrictions.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the physicians and nursing staff at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta for the care and attention George received.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation through a fund set up in George’s name in support of head and neck cancer research, at or by phone 1-780-643-4400.

Uncle George. We did not see you as often as we should have throughout the years but when we would see you and your family, those are some of the greatest memories I have. It is hard to believe that you are gone but the memories will always remain and be talked about often.❤❤

Della & Family
Sorry to hear about George's passing. He was a pleasure to play hockey with and was key in our winning CA success on and off the ice . Always so nice to talk with as our paths crossed on the Prentiss shutdowns and work at MEGlobal.

My sincere condolences to the whole Cholin Family! George was a great guy.
I was fortunate enough to work along side George for 9 years. 7 of which we were on the same shift together. I learned a ton and he really helped me be the operator I am today. I also got to spend time down in Prentiss working several shutdowns outside of an operations roll and really got to know him on a different level.
He was always willing to listen and help whenever someone needed anything.
You'll be missed George!

My condolences to Bill and all of the Cholin Family . I only played 1 year of hockey with George, but what a year it was. It is amazing the impact a person can have on you in just a short season, but George was that kind of guy. The New Years eve in Outlook, the Rosetown fight night and the night/morning we crashed George's Javelin and we thought it would be a brilliant idea to report it stolen. Didn't pan out to well. Young guys back then but remember it like it was yesterday. We had some fun. Rest in Peace George, may your memory live on. Peace and Love
