

Gladys Marion White (nee Armstrong), of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, a cherished mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on March 30th, 2025 at the age of 87 years surrounded by her loving family.
Gladys was predeceased by her parents, James and Margaret Armstrong, and husband Harry Carefoot White. She is survived by her four daughters, Faye White, Janet Borbely, Sandra (Marc) Tougas, Cindy (Wes) Serna; grandchildren, Brendin and Michael Serna, Katelyne (nee Borbely) (Tim) Plant, and Kristopher Borbely (Teja), along with her great grandchildren Luke and Logan Plant.
Gladys was born on March 7th, 1938. She was the first born and had 3 sisters and one brother (Kathaleen Armstrong-Krol, Ellen Armstrong, Isabelle Mohr, and James Armstrong).
Gladys married Harry Carefoot White on August 8th, 1959. While raising her four daughters, Gladys worked with Harry as curling ice technicians at the Fort Saskatchewan Golf & Curling Club for many years, wherein their daughters picked up the love of the curling game. Some of her best times were curling with her husband and winning the Alberta Provincial Mixed Legion Championships five times, plus cheering on her girls as they entered their competitive curling years. Gladys was also her daughters’ #1 fan when they were showing their Arabian horses. She worked diligently at helping them with their horses and ensuring they were turned out to perfection!
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dow Centennial Centre Lion’s Mane Room, 8700 84 St, Fort Saskatchewan AB T8L 4P5.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Alberta SPCA or the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated in Gladys’ memory.
