On June 26, 2026 Klaus Dieter Schlesiger started his morning saying “I had my breakfast, making my bed and gonna watch soccer later.” Heaven replied “Klaus my friend, it is time for you to watch all the soccer you want on my big screen. I have a new soft couch for you and all the peace you need.”
Klaus gave 80 years of his life on earth and many people met him along the way. From the days of growing up in Germany to coming to Canada on a boat, he saw his life change in many ways. He loved becoming a Canadian even though he questioned his Papa by saying “Did you bring us to Siberia?” He thought how crazy his new school friends were to take a soccer ball & flatten it out into a football. He always laughed when saying “When they saw me kick a soccer ball, they put me on the football team and said I didn’t have to speak English….just kick.” After the soccer years, Klaus paved his way in life from farming in Coronado, to a custom meat business & then the Redwater Hotel era.
His life had many phases and stories we could all tell. From family, loved ones, friends and all the random people along the way, he would be saying “Don’t make a big deal about it.”
He would want us all to not list a legacy from him, but live the legacy for how we cared about him. From heaven above Klaus is raising a glass & saying “Prost! I will see you another time.”
