We are so sorry to here of the passing of Lynn. Lynn was kind and a lot of fun. Fishing, playing ball, camping and she tolerated a lot. She was up for anything. Our condolences go out to her family. 

We are very sad to hear about Lynn. She truly was a very loyal, dedicated and beautiful person with a huge heart. Lynn always talked highly of her family and how much they meant to her. Lynn will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be always be in our hearts & we will cherish the wonderful memories. Our sincere condolences to all of Lynn's family.


Lynn could always brighten your day. I loved seeing her in the halls and I knew I could always count on her if I ever needed anything for my uniform, or just a friendly chat.  She treated everyone equally whether you had one day or 30 years in the building. She will be greatly missed and it won't be the same here without her.

For the last 8 years I always loved getting visits from Lynn at work.  She always had a sassy, smiley attitude and knew how to make me laugh.  She was exceptionally hard working and she will be greatly missed.  Condolences to her family in this time. <3

As I have tried to capture who Lynn was to me, and to put into words what losing her presence in this world feels like, I have been reading the heartfelt outpouring of love and grief from Lynn’s friends, co-workers and acquaintances on FB and on her condolence page.
I agree with you all. She is all of that and more.  
Lynn was the same lovely, open, kind, dignified, giving, non-judgmental person to everyone, no matter their position. She remained that way from the very first meeting and every encounter after that. 
She brought the gift of a steady, real presence to us all in a very challenging environment. She was very often the first and only friendly face we saw when we entered prison for the first time. 
I will always be grateful for her friendship, for her easy and absolute welcome for the new, very green Chaplain that I was 13 years ago. I’ll miss you Lynn.

I was a newly appointed officer at the Edmonton Remand Centre in June 2011, it was then that I had the privilege of meeting Lynn. Lynn was the first to issue me a new uniform and while she kindly made sure I had what I needed, I noticed her wearing a maroon Airborne sweatshirt. Being a proud military man, I asked her where she got it. She told me it had belonged to her dad. Being curious, I asked her who her father was, perhaps I knew him. Sgt John Brian "Boots" McDonald, she replied. I was blown away! Boots McDonald is a legend in the PPCLI Airborne, someone for whom I had immense respect. I served with her father right after I joined the Canadian Forces, just before he retired. From that moment on, Lynn and I reminisced about her father and our connected military experiences. I always remember her dropping what she was doing when I had to exchange my uniform- she was so willing to help and always maintained a can-do attitude- two qualities I respected most. I will forever miss our conversations and chats about her father and brother Dan, with whom I also worked. May you rest in peace, Lynn, you deserve it. Say “hi” your dad for me!

I am deeply saddened to hear of Lynns passing.I loved her from the first minute I met her as she was as genuine a person as they come.We quickly became friends and shared  alot of good laughs both at work and socially.She adored her children and was so excited to have a grand baby and I am happy she was able to experience that in her life
I know her family will miss her dearly as her love for all of them was so deep.
I wish I was able to attend her service to tell her family in person what a wonderful person she was and how much everyone loved her but I will be out of the country until May 6th.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.I hold nothing but special memories of Lynn in my heart.

Lynn and I were on the ERC Social Committee for many years and Lynn was the 'good cop' and I the 'bad cop' . Many times the whining from staff would make her angry so she would vent to me but didn't have the heart to put her foot down. I would be the one to do that. 
Lynn and I spent many hours talking about social issues, life in general and our families.  Family was always the most important role to her and I would always tell her to quit spoiling her boys for other women. She would just say, "But Jan they're my babies". Even when Kyle was 16 she would still say that. Being a single Mom, supporting her children by watching them play hockey, cooking meals and loving unconditionally was who and what Lynn did. Always giving and caring for others regardless of what she was going through. Having the opportunity to be a Grandmother was something that Lynn was grateful and excited for and she loved her grandson Rory endlessly. 
The one thing that I never saw waiver was Lynn's soft heart and compassion. She would always go out of her way for everyone, unless you pissed her off which took a lot.
I have many fond memories of time that I spent with Lynn. My thoughts and prayers to her family. Take solace in knowing she will be seeing her father again, is in a better place and that her loving spirit with be your guardian angel forever. 

It was a pleasure talking to you, always looking for a solution to the problems. Helping others.

As a brand new wage staff, Lynn was one of the first people I had to deal with at ERC. She made me feel welcome and went that extra mile to ensure I was set up properly with my new uniform.  She had a good heart and was a kind soul, a unique character that made coming to work fun. She will be sorely missed here at the Edmonton Remand Centre. May you rest in peace Lynn. 

Miss Lynn .. AKA Pretty Lady as I called her. I will miss our talks on the phone at work and i'll miss that soft gentle  voice. You were always a positive kind soul.  knowing you won't be here to talk saddens me deeply. Rest in Peace Pretty Lady I'll miss you dearly. My condolences to the family and friends of Lynn. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. 
      

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Miss Lynn.  She was a bright spot in an often depressing and dark place.  I am relieved at the end of her suffering, but will miss her huge smile and always present word of encouragement.  Deepest condolences to all her family and those that were richly blessed by her huge life!!!  Till we meet again dear friend.

Lynn, thank you for being such a light in a dark place. Your humour and kindness are a memory I will always treasure!  Prayers to all family members and friends. 

I am so dearly sorry for your loss.  My heart is  heavy knowing the struggle that Lynn went through with this disease, but at peace knowing she is no longer suffering. 

Lynn who would light up the room the moment she walked in. She had such a friendly demeanour and lovely smile that everyone gravitated to.  

She was a wonderful person to work with and she always made sure that you had everything that you needed and if you didn't, she would go out of her way to make sure you did. 

Lynn, I am so sorry I am unable to make it to your celebration; you will always be in my heart.

I worked with Lynn at the remand Centre for 5 years as did my husband. She was a wonderful person and tough as nails. So sorry to hear of her passing. Our deepest and sincerest condolences. A great memory of her was that she dressed us all in our uniforms and could look at you and get your size perfect. Although its been a while since I’ve seen or spoke with her hearing of her passing was far too soon. The Burke Family (Jim, Michele and Lily)
