Mike Gaumont Sr.

7 July, 195013 April, 2021

Your heart of gold stopped beating, your working hands can rest. The legacy of love you leave us is the very best.

On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, Mike Gaumont Sr., passed away peacefully, at the age of 70. After battling through many years of heart complications, and recent cancer diagnosis, Mike went to be with God during a walk with his wife and dog, and a backyard visit with neighbours. He will be forever loved and fondly remembered by his high school sweetheart and wife of fifty years, Betty, his children; Bonnie-Lynne (Justin), Michael (Jill), and Brad, and five grandchildren; Sam, Justyne, Michael, Kaylen, and Lily.

Mike will be lovingly remembered by so many others; including his five surviving sisters (Elaine, Leah, Carmen, Pauline, and Lorraine), many sister and brother in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, dear friends, neighbours, and cherished kids that adopted him as “Papa Mike”.

Many loved ones wait for Mike in heaven, including his parents, Roland and Josephine Gaumont, and sister, Joanne McEwen.

A private funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Angels Parish, Fort Saskatchewan, on Wednesday, April 21 at 11:00 am. Reverend Father Kris Schmidt will be the celebrant, with interment following at the Fort Saskatchewan Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions, only immediate family members are able to attend. Those wishing to view the service online may do so by Livestream through Facebook at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church.

An Order of Service can be found at the bottom of this webpage.

Those wishing to visit Mike Sr. at his final resting place can do so at the City of Fort Saskatchewan Cemetery in the 2018 Columbarium, Row F, Niche 3.

If desired, donations may be made to the Fort Saskatchewan First Responders Unit, Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital or the Mazankowski center, University of Alberta Hospital.

We are forever grateful for the care and compassion Dad always received from the many health care professionals.

So Sorry For Your Lost
Cousin Mike was always fondly looked up, whenever my cousins and I were with him at Uncle Roland Farm or at the river. My cousins and our families, (Gaumont's, Doucet's, Gagnon's Arsenault's, and Demer's, sometime up to 40 of us would spend our early childhood summers vacations down at the river below Uncle's farm. It was always a treat to see Mike and his horse King come down to visit, swim. picnic, and sing late into the evening..
Peace Mike, a life well lived.

Betty, Bonnie-Lynne, 'Little Mike' and Brad.

We are deeply saddened . Our hearts and prayers are with you.
Our families shared some good times together. I grew up with Mike and have lots of great memories of our school days at Lamoureux, playing hockey, having fun with our friends during our teens and our hunting trips. When we were younger I remember staying over at Roland & Josephine's and in the evenings the guitars would come out while we sang to Johnny Horton tunes. Mike always had that great infectious laugh and would giggle like crazy when the kids piled on and tickled him.
Mike will always be in our memories.

Ray Gaumont and Family.

Mike had a smile and a laugh that could light up the world and was so contagious. Over the years he has been nothing but kind and loving to myself and my family, and has been a wonderful friend to my grandfather who adored him.
Mike will forever be remembered, cherished and loved beyond measure.
