Ms. Nancy Jane McKay, late of Fort Saskatchewan, formerly of Sherwood Park, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the age of 61 years. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Megan (Adam) Ghadially, and Melissa Ghadially; 1 grandson, Alexander; 1 brother, Donald; and 1 sister, Andrea; and 3 nephews, Daniel, Shawn, and Lance; as well as numerous other family and many dear friends. Nancy is predeceased by her parents, Ken and Alma McKay.
Nancy grew up in Strasbourg, SK, the youngest of three children. She attended university in Saskatoon and later in early 2000 did a career change and became an optician. She found this a rewarding career where she so enjoyed helping her clients. Nancy grew up hiking the hills and around the farm; where she reveled in every discovery of fossil, native Indian arrowheads, or any bird or wildlife sightings. Always a champion for an injured animal, Nancy’s great love for all creatures carried through every aspect of her life. She leaves behind several pets, part of her family; Bubbles, Clam, and Beans just to mention a few. She had a generous, loving heart and touched many people with her presence. Nancy’s greatest hope was realized when she became a Grandma and she was ever so happy to have been able to be with us all long enough to get to know him.
A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 2 pm at Southfort Bend Gardens, with Deborah Parr officiating. Donations in Nancy’s memory gratefully accepted directly to the Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6G1Z2.
