Reed was born in Toronto and moved to Alberta where He met the love of his life, Gloria and they were later married in 1979. Reed and Gloria worked on the house they were building together, shingling on their honeymoon, which became their forever home. They raised their 2 boys on the acreage, providing Richard and Jeff all the opportunities parents could ever wish to provide for young energetic boys. They spent many happy years there watching their children, grandchildren, and even great grandchildren grow up. Reed was always at the center of things, whether it was being the life of the party, coaching hockey or in the middle of a big project at work.
Reed believed family always came first. He was always there when his boys were sick or when they wanted (or needed to) learn to fix things. He was the first to share his opinion on what he thought of your actions. Reed and Gloria loved their Grandkids fiercely. There are many memories of weekends at their place or the lake. Grandpa could always be counted on to get to the root cause of what was going on while working on a project. He generally had sound advice and was always willing to offer a break to his kids, when his grandkids were driving their parents crazy. Reed never missed an opportunity to take the kids on trips, camping, movies, car races and many other fun adventures. He always made time every year to take his granddaughters shopping for their birthdays.
Reed and Gloria retired and started to travel together enjoying life. They enjoyed many trips together from Mexico, Cuba, Las Vegas, and many more, creating many memories never to be forgotten. Eventually Reed and Gloria decided to spend the winter months in Florida and recently Arizona.
Reed is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gloria and his Mother in law - Rosa - who he always said would outlive him. His children Richard & Marie and Jeff & Melanie - He always considered his daughters in law as children too. His grandchildren - Taylor (Justin), Christine, Mackenzie, Lukas, Markus and Nikolaus. And his Great granddaughter, Ellie. Reed was predeceased by his best friend - Fred Derf - in the fall of 2021.
Reed loved with everything he had. He was always there to share in a joke, to dish it out and take it. He lived hard and played harder. Reed was always the first to offer you a drink. So have one for him now. We will miss you Dad.
