Shirley Iris WATSON

5 January, 193512 December, 2020

It is with great sadness that Shirley Iris Watson of Fort Saskatchewan has left this earth and has now joined her husband Ian and son Brian. Shirley took her last breath at 4:20 pm on Saturday, December 12th 2020 at Rivercrest Care Centre.

Shirley Iris Crozier was born on January 5, 1935 in Edmonton and was raised on a farm in Namao, Alberta. Shirley was the youngest child of John and Isabelle Crozier. She had three brothers. When Shirley was born she was a "blue baby" and had to undergo having her blood changed. Her parents flew in a special doctor from Japan to complete this as many years ago this was a procedure that was not done. Because of having her blood changed Shirley was hearing impaired since childhood.

Shirley attended elementary and high school in Namao and furthered her education at the Olds School of Agriculture. Shortly after completing college she met the love of her life Ian Watson. Shirley and Ian were married and lived a brief time in Edmonton where there first child Brian was born in 1962. A few short years later they moved to a new home in Fort Saskatchewan and welcomed another son Duncan. Shirley and Ian were very active in the community. They were Legion members and square danced on a regular basis. Shirley was a lover of sports. She was a member of a curling league and also a bowling team and also loved watching her son Duncan play hockey.

In her later life Shirley was a lover of playing bingo and the VLTs and would go every evening to the local bingo hall. She always wore a smile and was such a happy go lucky lady.

Shirley is survived by her son Duncan (Tammy) Watson, grandson Brandon Harel-Watson, granddaughter Samantha MacIntyre (Shelby), granddaughter Bryanna Watson and two great-grandchildren Kiana and Benjamin MacIntyre.
