Sid attended Christian schools in Edmonton, then continued to pursue his career at NAIT as an Electrician. Growing up he couldn’t have asked for more, living in a home filled with love, learning about life from his dad, and being very close to his mother. He enjoyed travelling with his sister in his VW Beetle, which he made sure to let everyone know every chance he had.
Live Life!! That is the motto Sid lived by, and that he did. His dedication to his faith led him to volunteer with the CRC (Christian Reform Church), helping people, transporting them to and from church, and making and delivering meals for many. He was involved with Alberta Fish and Game, even having sat on the board organizing functions.
Live Life- This meant creating special memories. One of the most important was the day he married his wife, Michelle. He has his hands in the whole thing from start to finish. He was thrilled that it was to be a medieval wedding in the courtyard of a castle. He made sure each and every detail was perfect for both of them to remember for a lifetime, and he did.
Live Life- And he did, trips to Mexico, camping, gardening, being in the country. His love of the outdoors was apparent through his hunting and fishing. He had talents in woodworking, baking and cooking, and if you needed anyone of these he was a phone call away and happy to help.
Live Life- The most important part to Sid was spending time with family and friends. He has made an impression on each and every one reading this one way or another, only you and him knowing how.
On January 23, 2025, Sid passed away peacefully at Edmonton’s University Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Hulzenga; children, Marina, Jared, and Joanna; sisters, Elly (Roger) and Jaqueline (Marty); 3 nephews, and 3 nieces.
Forever in our hearts always.
Celebration of life announcement to follow at a later date.
