

Verna will stay forever in the hearts of her children; Sandra (Ralph), Nancy and Jim; grandchildren; Jordyn (Taylor), Cassidy (Taylor), Lane (Chloe ), Jared and Justin; great-grandchildren; Charlee and Kasey; Rick, her partner of eight years; brother; Gordon (Jean); sister-in-laws; Maureen and Marianne, cousins, nieces, nephews and many precious friends.
Verna was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Art King; parents, Katherine and Donald Dakin; brothers, Gerry and Bob; and brother-in-law, Bruce.
Verna will be remembered for her unconditional love and support for her family, her loyalty and devotion to her friends, her passion for teaching, and her kindness to all. She was a voice of compassion, common sense and wisdom; gifted with the ability to always see the bright side - to remain calm in the storm and shine a light in the darkness. Although her light has now been dimmed, it will never be extinguished because those who knew and loved her will carry her memory and her light with them always.
A Celebration of Verna’s Life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. in the Lion’s Mane room at the Dow Centennial Centre, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
