

.Billie Francis Hamm, 97, of Fort Smith went home to be with her Lord on Saturday June 25th, 2011. She was born July 25th, 1913 in Mulberry, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, John William and Olive Gertrude Hamm, and also her sisters, Bennie Hamm Purdom and Monte Hamm Bird, both of Fort Smith. She is survived by one nephew, James M. Bird of Fort Smith and his wife Barbara Byars Bird, one great-nephew James M. Bird Jr. and wife Teresa of Fort Smith, two great nieces Leslye Bird Loum and husband Larry of Fort Smith and Amy Bird Pennington and husband Mike of Elm Springs. Billie had 5 great, great-nephews and 3 great, great- nieces and 5 great, great, great nieces and nephews.
She was lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Fort Smith. She was a member in the Fort Smith Zonta Club also for many years. After graduating from Fort Smith High school she resided in Little Rock and worked in a civil service government position. After moving back to Fort Smith , she went to work for Frank W. Dyke at United Saving and Loan Association as his private secretary and remained there until she retired. Billie will always be remembered by her friends and family for her unselfish devotion to those she loved.
Pallbearers will be Jim Bird Jr., her great nephew, Jerry Bird, Justin Loum, Aaron Loum, Brandon Penningtion and Haydon Penningtion, her great, great nephews.
The family graveside service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Forest Park Cemetery in Fort Smith with Reverend Mark Weaver and Pastor Bill Fink officiating. Memorial service will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Edwards Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith with visitation with the family following the service.
