Carolyn Jean Daffern Chandler, 83, of Fort Smith, AR, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. She was born on September 8, 1942, in DeKalb, TX to the late Charlie Daffern and Jewel Spinks Daffern. Carolyn was a retired Paralegal for the Social Security Administration Office of Hearings and Appeals in Fort Smith and worked as a federal government employee for 42 years. She was a member of North Point Fellowship in Van Buren. Carolyn was a talented musician playing with many bands throughout the years and sharing her talent with many students. She always had kind, witty, and colorful words for both friends and strangers. In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her brother, Lynn Daffern.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeana Boster and her husband Joe, of Van Buren; her son, Steve Dufresne and his wife Gretchen, of Fort Smith; a sister, Gayle Knutson of Texarkana, TX, and a brother, Jim Daffern and his wife Jeanie, of Sherman, TX. She is also survived by four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and her beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 3, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
