Chloe Jean Tedder went to be with her Lord and Savior July 22, 2011. She was born in Fort Smith on August 7, 1929. She was a devoted Christian participating in several churches over the years, most actively at the First Baptist Church for over fifty years.
She is survived by the driving force in her life, her four sons, Dr. Michael Eric Tedder and wife, Lindsey, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Stephen Mark Tedder and his companion, Pam Shank, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Robert David Tedder and wife, Debra, of Dallas, Texas, and Daniel Lee Tedder and wife, Cindy, of Battle Ground, Washington. She had thirteen grandchildren: Kimberly, Mickey, Robert, Jordan, Hudson, Sarah, Ryan, Chloe, Rachel, Luke, Amy, Andrew, Mark and two great grandchildren, Maddox and Jake Morrison. She is also survived by her Aunt Isabelle Parker and first cousin Cynde McAllister of Fort Smith, Arkansas, brother-in-law Adam Turner and children Tim, Cindy, and Randy of Independence, Missouri, and brother-in-law Rev. J.C. Tedder with wife Mary Belle and children Johnny and Jimmy of Independence, Missouri. She also had special friends for decades, Leta and Don Taylor, Mary Whitt, and Pat Taff.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Robert F. Tedder Jr. on September 1, 2010. Her beloved sister-in-law Mae Turner also passed away in 2010. Her parents Roberta & Eric Jordan also preceded her in death.
Chloe made literally hundreds of close friends through the years. She was a very intellectual and talented individual with countless interests. She was one of the “original” multi-taskers! As she and her loving husband were raising four boys, she was employed at some special positions while always making time for worship on Sundays and Wednesday night. She attended what is now UA Fort Smith when classes were held under Grizzly Stadium. In the 1960s she was a top classified ad saleswoman for the Southwest Times-Record. From there she managed Manpower, Inc. temporary employment service. Then came one of the real joys of her life, her position of Director of Volunteer Services at Sparks Hospital for over twenty-five years. When you wanted something done, she got it done. She loved writing short stories, and submitted some to the Reader’s Digest. She loved entering competitions and somehow won a division of the National Pillsbury Bake-off. She and her husband traveled the country for years competing in the Pillsbury contests. The Fort Smith Civic Center was the site of her 80th birthday party. It was declared “Chloe Tedder Day” in Fort Smith by then Mayor Ray Baker. When family asked, she always had the right advice, whether you liked it or not.
We will all miss our loving CoCo with her beautiful white hair, bold red lips, and vibrant personality.
Pall bearers will be her four sons Michael, Stephen, David, and Danny and grandsons Ryan and Robert.
Visitation will be held 5-7pm on Sunday, July 24th at Edwards Funeral Home. Funeral Services will by at 10am Monday in the chapel at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1400 North E Street, Fort Smith, AR 72901 or the charity of your choice.
