

Clara grew up in a farming community during the Great Depression. As a young child, she worked in the cotton fields and did everything she could to help support her family. Clara attended Fourche Valley High School, where she met her future husband, Leo King. They were married on September 19, 1942 and were blessed with 68 years together.
Clara was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. She was a devout Christian lady who always placed God and family first in her life. She was a member of Goddard United Methodist Church. Clara and Leo were both retirees of Weldon, Williams and Lick Printing Company of Fort Smith.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bettye and Cyril Schneider of Hackett; her sister-in-law, Alice Cooper of Fort Smith; four nieces: Judy (Tony) Stone and Peggy (Terry) Young of Fort Smith, Sharon (Clyde) Hess of Fairbank, PA and Linda (Bobby) Reynolds of Mt. Ida; and a nephew, Perry Cooper of Alma; also a sister-in-law, Leah (Rex) Hunt of Grass Valley, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, her parents and her brother C. L. Cooper.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, July 6, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kim Cloninger officiating. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren, all arrangements under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tony Stone, Terry Young, Clarence Schneider, Donald Schneider, Ed Kitchens and Buzz Kitchens.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home.
