Elizabeth Rush

“Liz” is survived by her mother, Mary Anne, older brother James Desno Rush, and her baby brother Thomas Franklin Rush. Also, Liz has 6 nieces and nephews; Nick, Brandon, Lilly, Ethan, Hanna, and Daisy.

Liz is preceded in death by her father, Desno Rush Jr., and big sister Deborah Rush.

Liz was a Southside High School graduate. She moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to attend medical school, where she earned her degree, top of her class and Valedictorian with a 4.4 grade average with honors. Liz then went on to spend her residency at Duke, where she specialized in Diagnostic Radiology. She had over 35 years of experience in breast cancer. Her patients and fellow colleagues of Wake Radiology were her main focus when she was not spending her time with her dachshund, Desi. The pair were inseparable.

She enjoyed spending time at her beach house in Wrightsville, North Carolina where she spent many summer vacations with her nieces and nephews. Liz enjoyed a variety of music, but her favorite was the Dave Matthew’s Band, who she saw a few times in concert and collected band tee shirts. She was an avid painter and enjoyed creating poetry and doing various craft projects for her family and friends.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at her farewell graveside ceremony on Wednesday, September 4th held at Roselawn Cemetery located at 5403 N. O Street, Fort Smith, AR at 2:00pm. Under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
