Flo Morgan

Flo Morgan, of Fort Smith, passed away January 31, 2013. She was born June 11, 1926 in Fallis, OK to Carl and Martha (Ebert) Simpson. Flo co-owned Morgan Shoe Stores for many years and was the sole owner of Flo Morgan’s Stride Rite in Fort Smith and Oklahoma City. She was a champion basketball player at Luther, OK during her high school years, and was a longtime member of Phi Beta Sigma Sorority. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Builder’s Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her sister, Velma Mackey and was also preceded in death by her close friend Jack Younger. She is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Varnadore and her husband, H.C., of Fort Smith, Sandra Taylor of Edmond, OK, and Georgia Custer and her husband, Johnny of Alma, AR; one son, Randy Morgan of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister, Maxine Mills of McAlister, OK; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Funeral Service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 4, 2013, in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend William Cheyne officiating. Burial will be in Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Mark Varnadore, John Rector, Johnny Custer, Cole Custer, Grant Custer, and Lori Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Phi Beta Sigma Sorority Sisters.
