

FREEMAN, HELEN LUCILE, 96, recently of Oviedo, FL, always a Razorback, went home peacefully to Jesus on October 22, 2012. Helen was born in St. Louis on September 28, 1916 as Helen Tinsley and moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas in 1926. She graduated from Fort Smith High School in 1935 where she later worked for 18 years before retiring as Registrar in 1981. Helen loved and married Bascom Freeman and together they owned and ran Freeman’s Flowers in the Goldman Hotel on Garrison Ave. They raised three sons, Bascom Jr., Robert, and Richard. Helen cherished her faith in her Savior Jesus Christ and worshipped him through fellowship at First Baptist for over 70 years, where she was saved in 1927. She moved to Oviedo in 1998, continuing her worship at First Baptist Oviedo. Still loved on this earth by two sons, Bascom Jr. and wife Sharon, and Richard and wife Linda, six grandchildren, Bryce, Regan, Stewart, Chris, Kari and Grant, and four great-grandchildren, Nia, Reece, Tinsley and Sadey Cate. Currently in Heaven with her husband Bascom, her son Robert and her brother Jimmy. A viewing will be held on Friday evening, October 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Fentress Funeral Home (1805 N. A St.). A graveside service will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Helen has a heart for missions & would like donations made to First Baptist Fort Smith Missions in lieu of flowers.
