

Howard Bagby Jr. 55, passed away May 30, 2013. Howard was born September 29, 1957 in Fort Worth, TX to Alma and Harold Bagby. Howard is survived by his son Benjamin H. Bagby. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School, Fort Worth and the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Petroleum Land Mgt. While at UT he was a member of The Silver spurs and Phi Gamma Delta – Fiji fraternity. He married Cindy Geels after moving to Ft. Smith and going to work for Texas Oil & Gas. They were married for 20 yrs. And were co-owners of Providence Exploration & Production, Inc. He also was the owner of Bagby Energy in Dallas, TX. He was a member of Fort Smith Association of Petroleum Landmen, the American Association of Professional Landmen, and he was a past Board Member of The First Tee of Fort Smith and was past President of Arkansas Royalty Membership. Howard was a keen business owner who showed great appreciation for those who worked for him and he showed great consideration in assisting others. He and his late wife Cindy were avid community supporters affording their time and resources to The First Tee of Fort Smith, The Fort Smith Boys Shelter, Second Street Live and The Blues Fest. Howard’s church membership was with Shepherd’s Chapel Church in Gravette, AR where he loved to worship and participated in Bible study. Howard deeply loved and was devoted to his family and friends, who in turn, loved and cherished him. Howard’s devotion to Christ afforded him many brothers in the faith, and each were treated as family. The Memorial service for Howard will be Monday, June 3rd at 2pm at Central Christian Church, 400 North Waldron Rd., Fort Smith, AR 72903. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home. There will be a reception with food and beverage, following the service from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at Central Christian Church. Public viewing will be at Edwards Funeral Home, Sunday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Monday from 8:00 AM – 12 Noon. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Cindy, and his parents Harold and Alma Bagby. Survivors in addition to his son Ben, include his two sisters, Becky Peninger and her husband Mike, of Aledo, TX and Linda Bagby Freer of Fort Worth, TX; his mother and father-in-law, Josephine and Harold Geels of Fort Smith; his two brother-in-laws, Jim Geels and his wife Angel of Fort Smith, and Mike Geels and his wife Annette of Jackson, TN. Howard had several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins that will share in his loss.
