

James Cleveland (Jim) Dawson, 80, of Greenwood, AR, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016, in Fort Smith, AR. He was born August 21, 1935 in Des Arc, AR to the late Novice and Elaine Patterson Dawson. He served as Air Traffic Control in the USAF in Korea and jungles of Vietnam. He worked in security at Sparks Regional Medical Center where he drove the Heart Mobile. Later he worked in security at the Worthen Bank Building in Little Rock, AR and retired from the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Department. He was a very loving and generous man who loved camping, boating, and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Grasse.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2010, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Smith with burial to follow at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Dawson; one son, James E. Dawson and his wife; four brothers, Everett Dawson, Harvey Dawson, Lannie Dawson, and Al Dawson; two sisters, Shirley Pottruff and Tammy Perciful; three grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, great nephews, and great great nephews.
Family will visit with friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Edwards Funeral Home, Fort Smith, Arkansas.
