James M. "Buddy" Hendricks

Mr. James M. (Buddy) Hendricks, 88, entered into sleep with Jesus on July 16, 2017. He was born on May 17th, 1929 in Fort Smith. Mr. Hendricks had a rewarding and successful career in the car business for many years. He retired, as manager, from Hertz Car Sales. He and his wife were avid horse enthusiasts and rode Cutting Horses. Mr. Hendricks also served and volunteered in the 4-H program while his children were members. He was active in his grandchildren’s lives, attending their sporting events and cattle shows. He and his wife were members of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fort Smith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nella Jean Hendricks; four children Butch Hendricks (Patty) of Fort Smith, Andrea Butler (Jim) of Republic, Missouri, Laura Elwood (Joe) of Lavaca, Arkansas and Tim Hendricks (Stephanie) of Bella Vista, Arkansas, as well as his brother Jerry Hendricks (Wincie) and brother-in-law, Joe McCutchen (Barbara). He had 9 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Thresa Hendricks, one brother, Andrew (Hunky) Hendricks as well as two sisters, Shirley Teague and Pam Ory.

Celebration of Life Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father John Antony at 10:00am Monday, July 24, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rosary prayers will be recited at 6:00pm Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation beginning an hour prior at 5:00pm. Private burial of cremated remains will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Holly Jennings, Dr. John Brandebura, Dorothy Holden, David Starkey, Joey McCutchen and Mark Smith.

The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Ashton Place and Peachtree Hospice for their kindness and compassion shown to Mr. Hendricks.
