James “Joker” Whitaker, 48, of Fort Smith, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. He was born on April 13, 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. James’ passion throughout his life was the culinary arts, culminating in his position as Head Chef for the Movie Lounge in Fort Smith. After it's closing, his time was dedicated to the care of his daughter, Makenzie.
His spirit will be carried on by the recipes in his homemade cookbooks, in his daughter's love of football and fishing, and in his sons’ stubborn and confident personalities.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne, of the home; two daughters, Makenzie Whitaker of Fort Smith and Brianna Schmitz of Phippsburg, Maine; two sons, Adrian Whitaker and his wife Hope, of Booneville and Jayden Whitaker and his fiancée LoganMarie, of Fort Smith; mother, Debbie Carnes of Missouri; two brothers, Jason Whitaker and Ryan Whitaker, both of Missouri, along with two grandchildren, Evander Whitaker and Oliver Whitaker with one on the way, Evalie Whitaker.
Services will be private, cremation is under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
