He was born August 2, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas to Leland and Patricia Davis. Joel grew up in McAllen, TX, but later moved to Oklahoma and graduated from Roland High School. As a “Jack of all Trades”, Joel had several hobbies and talents that proved beneficial throughout his career. His skill as a mechanic provided a long time career at Gerber, from which he retired in 2020. He was an avid drummer who loved classic rock music, artist, cook, and talented woodworker. He married the love of his life, Diane, on March 24, 1999 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and has shared a lifetime of memories with his three children, grand-daughter, and beloved canine, Budi. Joel was the epitome of a heart of gold, with a gentle, sweet, and loving soul. As a Husband, Father, Uncle, Brother, and Friend, He truly lived as the promise from Jesus in the Gospel of John (John 14:18), signifying support, comfort, and presence to all those around him. Joel’s daughter, Samantha, shares “Dad was my hero, my friend, my mentor, and my guide. He gave me life; he gave me knowledge and wisdom. Dad is my inspiration and my motivation for my future. I will never forget you. I'm sorry, Dad. You were taken from us too soon. I Love you.”
“Non Relinquam Vos" Latin for "I will never leave you,” is a special saying between Joel and his family. We know he is still with us.
Joel is survived by his wife, Diane Davis, of the home; his three children, Joel Elliott Davis II (JoJo) and wife Ketty Davis of Taiwan; Samantha Danelle Davis and fiancé Alex Michael Payne of Jacksonville, Illinois; Patrick Allen Davis of Bonanza, Arkansas; and grand-daughter Ellie Mei Davis of Taiwan. Joel is also survived by his mother, Patricia English of Portland, OR; sister, Mandi Davis of Portland, OR; a large extended family that includes numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and many dear friends, specifically Daniel Pollock, his lifelong best friend.
Joel is preceded in death by his father, Leland Edgar Davis, Jr. his brother Leland Patrick Davis, and nephew Leland Patrick Davis, Jr.
