John Russell Bowers Sr.

John Russell Bowers, Sr., 50, of Fort Smith, died December 26, 2010 in Fairfax, Virginia. He was born January 28, 1959 in Fort Smith. He was a CFP and Trainer with Met Life Insurance Company and was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard where he served as an EMT and Rescue Swimmer.

He is survived by one daughter Rosalie R. Bowers of Lavaca; one son, John Bowers, Jr. of Fort Smith; father Don Bowers and his wife Sally of Van Buren; sister, Ann Bowers Kinder and her husband Paul of Fort Smith; brother, David Bowers and his wife Jane of Fort Smith; Uncle, Richard Bowers of Keokuk, Iowa; Aunt, Julie Bowers of Lake Okoboji, Iowa; three step sisters, Annie Powell Hendricks and her husband Andrew of Fort Smith, Maud Powell Mulvaney and her husband Stephen of Corondo Island, CA., and Carolyn Powell Hartley and her husband Ken of Dallas, TX; one grandchild, Keagan Dust of Lavaca; and several Nieces and Nephews. He is also survived by the mother of his children Staci Bowers Goodman of Fort Smith and former wife Debra Covey Bowers of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother Lois Paddock Bowers and brother, Don Bowers, Jr.

Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation and services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
