John Piersing

John E. Piersing, 74, passed away August 24, 2021 in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his four children, Karl August Piersing (Michelle), Leigh Ann (Jeremy O’Dell), Heather Marie (Kevin Sayre) and Ryan Thomas Piersing; eight grandchildren; sisters, Mary Louise Weatherman, Lois Manly and Ruth Ann Kinsey; Brothers, Howard Arthur and Robert Arthur Piersing, as well numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles F. Sr. and Frieda Piersing; his brother, Charles F. Jr. and sisters, Gertrude (Trudy) Piersing and Helen Sullivan.

John was born in St. Joseph, Michigan and graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1965. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force. He service his country for twenty four years at numerous stateside and overseas locations. After military retirement, he worked on an ambulance as a paramedic. He eventually continued his schooling, fulfilled his goal of becoming a physician assistant, and worked a number of years in Family Medicine.

He greatly enjoyed life and a variety of fun activities: square dancing, piloting small aircraft, motorcycle riding, scuba diving, and hunting.

The road was not always smooth or easy, but the good Lord carried him through it all. He traveled to incredible places. He met many wonderful people for whom he cared and considered them all friends.

Captain Piersing will be interred at a national cemetery after his cremation and his children were advised to meet at Eskimo Joe’s to celebrate his life.
