

Kenneth Bowen, 83 of Fort Smith passed away Wednesday, May 07, 2014 in Fort Smith. He was born July 30, 1930 in Stigler, OK to the late Otis Paul and Myrtle Elizabeth (Peevyhouse) Bowen. He attended Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church in Van Buren for many years. He was proud to help build and establish Walnut Street Free Will Baptist Church where he was an ordained Deacon. He was a retired finishing room lead man from Riverside Furniture after 32 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Wanda Jo Harrell Bowen, a sister Marie Bowen and a brother R. L. Bowen.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randall Ray officiating. Burial will be at Whitefield Cemetery near Stigler, OK under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by two daughters; Ava Jo Byus of Sprio, OK, Mary Cason of Ft. Smith, two son Leamon Bowen of Junction City, KS, and Larry Bowen of Ft. Smith, two brothers Carl Bowen of Ft. Smith, and Lawrence Dale Bowen of Van Buren, 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great, great Grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Jackie and Kenneth Bowen, Joshua and Zachary Cason, Jackie Irvin and Virgil Hobbs. Honorary pallbearer will be Richard Bowen.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:30 PM Friday, May 9, 2014 at the funeral home.
