

Laurence (Larry) A. Mathews, 62, of Fort Smith, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022. He was born on November 23, 1959 In Little Rock to the late Laurence and Jacquilyn Mathews. He was a self-employed painter. Larry was a talented musician and very well known in the local music community and abroad. He played all over Europe and with the USO, entertaining troops. Larry also played with the Jimmy Buffet tribute band and with Mr. Cabbage Head and the Screaming Radishes. Most recently playing with the Mark Albertson Trio. Larry received the Living Legend Award in 2020 for his distinguished career and lifetime achievement in music.
There are currently no services scheduled, there will be a celebration of life for Larry at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by his daughter, Hollyanna Mathews of New York City; step-daughter, Jacque Peterson (Ty) of Barling; three brothers, Michael Mathews and David Mathews (Myrna), both of Fort Smith and Martin Mathews (Barbara) of Bonita Beach Florida; a niece, Micha Mathews (Matthew) and her children, of Long Island, New York.
