

Larry Paul Vaught, 71, of Arkoma, died August 16, 2015 in his home. He was born December 26, 1943 in Cartersville, OK to Paul R. and V. Marie Stanley Vaught. He was retired from the Oil Distribution Business and his Home Improvement Business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of Goddard United Methodist Church and the Bruton Mason Lodge in Muldrow where he was a 32 Degree Mason. He was a former member of the Cavanaugh United Methodist Church where he served several times as the Chairman of the Board, Trustees Committee, Building & Maintenance. He was a Sunday School teacher of the Adult Bible Class. For many years he coached girls little league softball, and coached football with Evans Boy’s Club and was active with Faith Assembly #73 Rainbow Girls Chapter where both of his daughters were active. He was an avid quail hunter, fishermen, and a veracious reader, with a love of history.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn S. Alverson Vaught of the home; two daughters, La-Ronnee Vaught Jerger and husband Dan of Northern California and Carrie Vaught Coady and husband Jay of Arkoma; three sisters, Mari-San Vaught Matlock of Pocola, Sharon Perkins of Arkoma, and Beverleigh Magness of Sallisaw; two brothers, Ronnie Vaught of Pocola and Stanley Vaught of Fort Smith, and one grandchild, Charro G. Coady. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Marie Vaught.
Funeral service will be Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation will follow the Funeral and burial will be at a later date in the Old Cache Cemetery with a full Masonic Graveside. Service and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends of Cavanaugh and Goddard United Methodist Churches and his nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.
