Mary Helen Wells, 79, of Fort Smith, passed away on January 5, 2022. She was born on October 19, 1942 in Morrilton, AR to John Polk and Edna Rogers Polk. In her life, Mary had many adventures; She was a preacher’s wife, a CNA at the Conway Human Development Center, and enjoyed remodeling her dwellings and working with her hands. But Mary’s greatest adventure was being Nanna. She not only dedicated her life to her family and friends, but would rejoice in being everyone’s Nanna. She was a truly unique and special human being, treating everyone with dignity, respect and offering nothing but love and kindness to all. She was a bright light in the lives of everyone that was lucky to have known her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents John Polk and Edna Rogers Polk; husband, J.B. Wells; four siblings, J.C. Polk, Charles Polk, Hazel Polk and Judy Polk.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Didier and fiancé Bo Bartlett of Van Buren; two granddaughters, Erica Merritt and fiancé Michael Gaylord of Van Buren, Katie Pursell and husband Austen of Barling; great granddaughter, Mazie Pursell of Barling; five nieces and numerous extended family and friends.
Graveside service will be 2 PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Elmwood Cemetery in Morrilton, AR. Visitation will be 4 PM till 7 PM Monday, January 10, 2022 at Edwards Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Austen Pursell, Michael Gaylord, Ron Merritt, Bo Bartlett, Kevin Davis and Ryan Merritt.
