>> Mikie was born in Jonesboro, AR while her dad was serving in WWII, stationed in Karachi, India (now Pakistan). Upon his return, young Mikie moved across the state to Gurdon, AR for her childhood, then moving again to Magnolia, AR for her high school years. After beginning college at Southern State College (now SAU), she paused to become a hair dresser and worked for a number of years at Hazelwood Beauty Salon with her mom. She loved her patrons as her friends. In time, she returned to college and swiftly completed her degree in business. She was then off to El Dorado, to become the Land Manager at Great Lakes Chemical. She was quick to tell you she would never have gotten that first interview if management realized Michael was a female, but none the less, she was soon part of the gang, well regarded and appreciated. She spent the rest of her career, working with land contracts and those people who had entrusted their land to her company. She was perhaps proudest of the land reclamation projects accomplished under her leadership, and was awarded a Point of Light award by our governor for her work. Upon retirement, she moved to Fort Smith, to be near family.
>>
>> Mikie was known to have the caregiver gene. She always went the extra mile in caring for her ill friends and family. Those of us touched by her sacrifice and generous gift of self will forever remain in her debt.
