

Morris A. “Doc” Richardson, 86 of Muldrow, OK, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021. He was born on May 7, 1935 in Fort Smith to the late Melgar and Maude Richardson. “Doc” as he was affectionately known, was a retired physician and practitioner of general medicine. He also served as a doctor in the U. S. Navy. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Fort Smith Rotary Club, the Sequoyah County Republican Party, Hardscrabble Country Club, and was involved with and loved the Fort Smith Symphony. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Cay de Vlaming.
He spent over 30 years working and raising a family in the Houston area. While living in Texas he pursued several hobbies and interests outside of his medical practice. He was a private airplane pilot, a sailboat captain, and voracious collector of stamps. In 1996 Morris retired from medicine and returned to the family farm where he was raised. He reconnected with old friends quickly and made many, many new ones in Muldrow and Fort Smith over the next 25 years. He served on the board of the local water district, participated in civic programs, to include Leadership Fort Smith, was a business owner, a visiting professor at UAFS, and was a regular at the local Blue Ribbon Diner. In later years, he founded and grew an oil and gas company called Fairview Productions. He was devoted to his friends and his family and was very grateful to call this place home.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Edwards Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a private committal of ashes will follow at the church columbarium. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
He is survived by two daughters, Margaret A. Toups of Houston, TX and Elizabeth M. Gannon of Simpsonville, SC; a son, Christopher C. Richardson and his wife Sheila of Friendswood, TX; a step-son, Joseph Derrington and his wife Lacey of Tomball, TX; the mother of his children, Mary E. Richardson of Fort Worth, TX, along with seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
